The ideal time to reserve your newborn photoshoot is during your second trimester, between 12 to 24 weeks of pregnancy. Booking early not only secures your place on my calendar, but also gives us the opportunity to thoughtfully plan your session and create something truly meaningful for your growing family.

If your baby is already here, time becomes especially important. Newborn sessions are welcomed all the way up to three months of age, so please don’t hesitate to reach out — every effort will be made to accommodate your family and preserve these early memories.

In 2021, I was pregnant with my third child as my oldest became a tweenager. I couldn't help but feel nostalgia for those early days with her when she was an infant and loved to spend her days snuggled on my chest.

In those moments of nostalgia, the only thing that comforted me were the photos of us together.

This is when I made the decision to specialize in newborn photography after having had photographed general portraiture for over 10 years.

1. wHAT IS AN IN-HOME NEWBORN PHOTO SESSION?

An in-home newborn session takes place in the comfort of your own home, allowing your family to remain relaxed during those tender early days. Professional lighting and backdrops are brought to you, so there is no need to worry about having a perfectly tidy house or ideal natural light. If you would like to incorporate meaningful spaces — such as the nursery or other favorite areas — those can absolutely be included to add a personal touch to your portraits.

2. When should I book my newborn session?

It is recommended to reserve your session 2-3 months before your baby arrives so your spot is secured and details can be thoughtfully planned. The suggested time for newborn portraits is within the first 1–3 weeks of life, when babies tend to be sleepier.

At the same time, every family’s journey is unique, and no baby should ever miss the opportunity to be photographed at this early stage of their life. I have the experience of photographing babies well beyond those early weeks, and up to three months of age.

3. What happens if my baby arrives early or late?

Birth rarely follows a strict timeline, so flexibility is built into the schedule whenever possible. Simply stay in touch after your baby arrives so the session can be adjusted accordingly.

4. What if my baby cries or won’t settle?

Newborn sessions are intentionally relaxed and guided by your baby’s needs. Time is allowed for feeding, comforting, and soothing breaks so the experience remains calm and unrushed. Your baby’s safety is always the highest priority. Gentle, baby-led posing techniques are used, and no position is ever foced. With the experience of photographing over 300 babies, a calm, soothing approach is thoughtfully created to support your newborn’s comfort. From reading baby cues to fostering a peaceful atmosphere, every detail is guided by experience so your little one can remain relaxed throughout the session.

5. how do I prepare for my newborn session?

Very little is required of you — everything is thoughtfully brought to your home, including a curated collection of wraps, outfits, and simple props. Many pieces are one-of-a-kind and handmade, carefully selected to create timeless portraits for your family. You are also welcome to include a special outfit or sentimental item, such as an heirloom or meaningful blanket, to further personalize your session.

After booking, you will receive a detailed Newborn Prep Guide with helpful tips on feeding, wardrobe, and what to expect, so you can feel confident, prepared, and completely at ease.

6. Who can be in the photos?

Newborn sessions are designed to celebrate your growing family, so parents and siblings are always welcome and encouraged to participate. These genuine connections often become the most cherished images.

Grandparents and even beloved pets can also be included, creating meaningful portraits that reflect the love surrounding your baby from the very beginning.

I bring a curated selection of soft wraps, delicate handmade outfits, and simple props that photograph beautifully in your home. Sessions are baby-led and can last up to three hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and natural connection.

You’ll receive thoughtfully edited digital images as well as custom keepsake newborn film, which captures the gentle movements that still images cannot.
