When I picked up a camera, there was something about this art, photography, that spoke to me: psychology behind composition, intricacies of light, ability to capture the mood—rather than make mirror images of a scene. Capturing emotion through photography was the creative purpose I was seeking. For the first time, I felt I’d found my artistic path.
Only one thing was missing: a supportive community to share my passion—a seemingly impossible dream.
But every so often, life surprises you with an unexpected.
After the decade of searching for my tribe, I finally found it. Just like me, these three women had been lonely for artistic community and found nothing until serendipity brought us all together. I’m now blessed with a tight-knit circle of talented and creative friends.
Within days of meeting we pledged to meet weekly and support, inspire and challenge each other. We write, we photograph, we set goals and work hard to achieve them.
I set out to photograph this session to capture our friendship—how it had evolved from emptiness to wholeness. I wanted to document our love for adventure, observation and creation of art—no matter what form.
Fast forward two years and our little group is stronger than ever, it's grown into an artistic sanctuary in which we provide inspiration and support for eachother.
So, in 2019 our goal is to document our experience, lessons we’ve learned, successes we've identified, in hopes that they will inspire other artist-mothers to find their people and tend their own artistic fires again.
