Most families I photograph come to me in Fall for their annual family portraits. One thing they often request is FRESH GRASS and flowers, and while I have local parks with manicured green grass available, these locations are still limited to small areas and are often surrounded by urban developments. For anyone looking for wide open spaces and green, luscious grass plus stunning views of wild flowers as their backdrop, FEBRUARY and MARCH are two perfect months to plan their family photos!
Last February I photographed this sweet family against the gorgeous rolling hills of East Bay and stunning mustard flowers. The views were enchanting, with the soft winter light and vibrant yellow flowers setting the stage for heartwarming moments.
As we strolled through the hills, I was able to capture pure joy and sweet giggles as mom and dad played with the baby. It’s hard to believe I had photographed him as a newborn merely several months earlier.
Now he was sitting up independently and exploring the wildflowers with his tiny fingers.
Another reason why February and March are some of my most favorite months to photograph families with young children is an early sunset. There’s nothing quite as magical as photographing a mother’s tender love of her child against warm, golden light.
This session was a celebration of family connection, highlighting the joy, love, and curiosity that define the essence of family life with a 7-month-old.
As a family lifestyle photographer, these moments fuel my passion – capturing the fleeting beauty of life against the enchanting California landscapes, especially during this precious stage in a child’s development.
