Choosing Outfits for Your Baby’s Photo Session – Knits

So, you’ve scheduled a photography session for your family – that’s great! Now, comes the important task of styling everyone. I usually recommend starting with the mom’s outfit and coordinating all the other members’ pieces accordingly. Babies look adorable in anything you put them in, but for that special photo session, you want him in something timeless, and what can be more timeless than a perfect knitted outfit?!

I like using knitted pieces in photography because of their unique texture and comfort. Mornings and afternoons (best time to schedule outdoor photo sessions is within 1-2 hours of sunrise/sunset) in SF East Bay Area can be quite cool, so knitted overalls and sweaters will provide warmth to the baby and add a feeling of coziness to the photographs.

When selecting knitted baby clothes for photography, it is important to choose colors and patterns carefully. Bright, primary colors can be distracting in photos, so opt for more muted tones and shades instead.

For extra chilly nights, you can add a layer underneath a romper. Aim for well-fitting simple shirts in light colors. Accessories such as tights and socks also look the best in neutral colors.

Additionally, avoid overly busy color patterns, as they can divert focus from the baby. Instead, choose interesting knit patterns that can add a 3rd dimention to a 2D photo.

I hope that these baby knitted outfit ideas from Amazon have given you some helpful guidance for styling your baby for the next photo session. I’m working on another styling guide for other types of outfits that can be as timeless as knits are. So look out for that post in the near future.
